Welcome to my website!! Take a look around, leave comments and feedback. You can also learn more about my book and order a copy (paperback, e-version) from Amazon and most online retailers.
The stories in this book are all based on actual events across several different careers and experiences. The writing of this book has been a “work in progress” for a few years and I have learned a lot about vulnerability in sharing these stories. In every case I have tried to present the story as it actually occurred and to share the lesson I learned from it. This book is my attempt to highlight the important things we all experience and how we can learn from them and share with others. We are all better together.
Based on over three decades of service and counting, I have created 19 short stories that each share some “observations and life lessons.” I have based the stories on actual experiences about growing up in poverty, serving in the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel, serving as an advisor to a senior member of President Clinton’s Cabinet, Non-profit CEO, Successful Entrepreneur, President of two disability rights groups, and, most significantly, being a husband and father.
Comment, what a great read was a pleasure meeting you at the visitors center in Gettysburg.
My wife who joked that I would never read it was showed she was not correct
On our trip I found many nights just reliving through your writing.
Thanks the time we spent chatting
Mr. Fabre, in April 2024 my wife and I visited Gettysburg museum and I picked up a signed copy of your book “Invaders of our Town”. I am Canadian and love American history. I really enjoyed this book. When I purchased it I didn’t realize how much of enjoyment and insight this novel has provided. I’m about 50 pages to the end of the book l, thank God the war ended but I wish that the story you put together would never end. Thank you very much for the effort put into this book. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Dan,
Sorry I have not seen this comment earlier, my website failed to send me a notice that a comment was received. I appreciate that you are enjoying the book, but I am James A Faber and did not write “Invaders of our Town.” I am also a history lover and former Professor of Political Science at the US Air Force Academy, and have studied Gettysburg. If you are interested to learn more about me, my website and most recent book will tel you more. In any case, I always appreciate hearing from others and although I am not the “right” Jame Faber, I wish you all the best.
Hello Jim ! I hope and trust you are faring well, having a lovely summer with your family.
I am interested in your perspectives and likely possible experience with Unidentified Anomalous Phonomena. In the light of recent whistleblowers coming to the fore in an arena where they are finally being taken seriously and given what appears to be long overdue attention. In your years of flying experience and information to which you would be privy I feel sure you would have things most interesting to share.. If it’s too lengthy to go into here or there are links and references my email is available below.
As ever God bless you and yours with all that is good and makes your heart sing!
P.S. Incidentally I’m not for Socialism either I don’t think it’s what America was ever about
Hi Jim how are you? Did you write the Renegade Campaign?
Karen,
Doing well and I hope you are as well. No, I did not write the Renegade Campaign and was completely unaware of it until you brought it to my attention. Appears to be a book written by another James Faber that supports Marxism and Socialism. Both of those political ideologies look good on paper but have never worked in practice as they always end up as authoritarian & repressive regimes. Oh well, the greatness of our Republic is the freedom of speech, and pen!! Be well.
I am certainly happy to hear that you didn’t write that book I never read it and it looks like it supports things that are not going to be good and it looks also kind of strange and the messages actually exposing bad things but not endorsing them, I wasn’t sure just on a quick glance at it which way it was actually going even though it looked bad.. I never decided to read it,, it was just as it had your name as the author that I noticed it actually when I spotted your book, which was amazing to find as that was also completely accidental, while I was looking for some thing else and actually it I recall was a DVD not even a book, I purchased both the books at that time thinking you had written them , and then thought it probably was a different person when I received the books , I’ve never even really looked at it at all but found it in a corner tecently.
O yes, freedom of speech is a thing that we all have to pray for, and hope upholds in our country. California has just put a muzzle on it’s doctors, And I see the pressure of Marxism disguised as socialism still trying to push in a, which has been years in the making. I can’t believe what’s happening in the world today and what’s being taught in schools. It’s a good thing your children are grown. Because of your past positions, i’m sure you have quite an insight to what was going to happen globally a long time ago.
I look after my mother who is 101 years old,, I’m grateful for the grace and health that enfolds me always!
Cheers and the best to you for beautiful holidays, and God bless you and your family!
Karen,
I agree with everything you have said. Thank-you for all the kind words and great thoughts. God Bless you, your Mother, and entire family and have a wonderful Holiday Season.
It was amazing to read this book Jim, It was like getting a letter from an old friend. I was riveted to it, And could really make a comment upon so much, that it would be a book of itself. As unassuming as this book may appear, it’s very obvious that in all the positions you have held, you have done some outstanding career situations not afforded to many and have been prudent and humble in not naming names. The work you have done has been extremely important and made a difference to many lives, Your maturity of character is evident in how you fought for what you believed in while working within a very difficult structure. As you know a lot of people haven’t persisted as you have to make it happen, it’s a messy and complex system in which to get things accomplished.. I was so sorry to hear about the terrible time with your children when they were little and ill, and God bless your wife for her strength of spirit that I’m sure tipped the edge for your son’s survival. Nice that you can all enjoy life now exploring hiking together !
It was sad for me to read that after all you had done and been through, that you had to leave excepting That they couldn’t change that one line for you. You did deserve better. I was amazed at the very end of this book to see that it was made on 29 March this year! I was so happy to read that you spiritually recognized Nelson Mandela. Meeting real heroes is like nothing on earth! You feel it in your soul.
It’s really remarkable to see this combination of astounding ambition that you have had, yet still remained in Integrity and a gentleness of heart and pure spirit.
It made me think of an Air Force captain that I once knew many moons ago, who also flew those fabulous jets, In our romantic embrace in the evening, he accidentally tore off one of my gold buttons on my dress jacket . I woke up the following morning to find that he had actually sewn it back on before I awoke. Pretty amazing that a man capable of doing what he did so focused in his job, could be so and sensitive and caring across that spectrum.
When I read your book it reminded me of that man. It is pretty obvious that you have always tried to do that which would be the best you could be in every experience and consequently realize you are blessed. Nothing like feeling fully alive and feeling great about it. Never settle for less than that feeling! Cheers! and congratscon your lovely book!
Karen,
Thank-you for all of your kind words and wonderful feedback. I really appreciate that you have taken the time to provide such thoughtful insight. I hope this little book will provide some joy, reflection, and happy thoughts for all who may read it. Blessings and stay in touch.
Great book, Jim! Stayed up until 2am finishing it. Well done, my friend!
Thank-you Dave for reading it and I REALLY appreciate your comments. Be well my friend!!!!
